Although podcasts have been around for years, since the advent of the iPod and other Apple devices in fact, it is only in recent times that they have found such intense popularity.

A number of factors have impacted this from the quality of podcast available to increasing data allowances and the number of devices that cater for them, but the result is that the user has a great wealth of information available to them these days.

Football, entertainment, politics and gaming are some of the most popular genres for podcasts if you look at the charts but there is an ever burgeoning scene present when it comes to wine podcasts these days. The Octavian team have been getting stuck in to see which of these would be the best use of time for our current and prospective customers.

It is inevitably quite limited in the fact that it just focuses on the latest conversations in this country, but if you are a merchant or sommelier who works in the United Kingdom that may be just what you are looking for.

The UK Wine Show podcast has regular interviews and is listened to by wine businesses from across the nation looking to ensure they are top of the latest trends. Producers and industry experts regularly take part in this podcast and give their take on the breaking news from the sector.

This aptly named wine and sommelier podcast is hosted by graperadio.com, which many of you may have come across due to the fascinating articles it also has on its website. But their reputation has obviously been built on their great podcast which has won the much coveted James Beard award in the past.

Finally, I’ll Drink To That! Talking Wine with Levi Dalton, is one of our favourites here at Octavian due to the fact that it regularly contains content contributed by former sommeliers. Dalton invites all manner of wine professional to his apartment where they debate and discuss everything from their lives and work to latest trends in the world of fine wine.

Due to the fact that this podcast is hosted by the Wine Editor for the Eater NY, you can rest assured all the content on this show is of the highest possible calibre and you can expect to hear the thoughts of winemakers, traders, sommeliers and writers alike as they debate the latest breaking wine news. This is probably one of the most diverse and entertaining wine podcasts you will listen to due to its host, we really can’t recommend it highly enough.

As podcasts in general continue to get more and more popular, there are bound to me more wine shows just like these coming onto the scene in the future but these are certainly are top picks for the time being.
