Although many of us may feel like we have drunk our respective weights in wine over the festive period, today’s feature here at Octavian brings you useful information on the best wine fairs and events across the UK.

Where? County Hall, Belvedere Road, Lambeth, London, SE1 7GP.

When? 15th January 2018 / 18:00 – 21:00

When it comes to new world wines, they don’t come much better than those emanating from New Zealand these days. As anyone who has visited this spectacular part of the world will tell you, the climate in New Zealand is simply perfect for wine production due to the amount of rain and sun the country gets.

Unfortunately, trips to New Zealand can’t be taken too often due to the fact that its nestled cosily on the other side of the world. So why not do the next best thing and visit The Great New Zealand Wine Tasting in Lambeth this January?

Part of the Tiki Tour, this event offers you the chance to sample some of the 4000 plus wines New Zealand has produced of late and the winemakers are even present to talk you through their product. This one is not to be missed and ideally located in South East London.

Where? Brasserie Blanc, Southbank, SE1 8YP.

When? 27th January / 10:30 – 16:30

Staying in London, which inevitably is where the majority of the best UK wine events take place, is the Champagne & Sparkling Wine Tasting With Lunch at the Brasserie Blanc, on the Southbank.

This wine fair is ideal for seasoned wine experts such as yourselves looking for some of the best new fine wines accompanied by sumptuous cuisine, or perhaps as a present for a loved one or a friend who is yet to learn about all the sector has to offer.

This addition to your wine calendar actually has a few variations if one prefers, such as the One Day Wine Course & Lunch and also the Discovery Day Course. You can learn more at the ThirtyFifty website where you can find a plethora of other great wine events on in and around London all through 2018.

Where? The Wine Society, Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage, SG1 2BT.

When? Aperitif: 12.30 to 13.00 Lunch: 13.15 to 15.00

January is actually quite a calm month when it comes to the best wine fairs, but this doesn’t stop the guys at the Wine Society in Stevenage. This is the best of the wine events we could find outside of the city and although it’s hardly far away, it could be well worth the journey.

This establishment has a stunning cellar showroom where one can learn all sorts about the 144-year history of the venue. A quite staggering two million bottles of wine can be stored at the eco-friendly fourth warehouse at The Wine Society, making for a rather intriguing wine event.

Once you safely negotiate the historical and cultural aspect of this event you can enjoy a quite beautiful four course lunch, freshly prepared using only the finest local fayre.

All the meals are designed specifically to complement the excellent wines on offer. At the end of the meal, a member of the in-house expert tasting team will give a talk on the day as a whole and be on hand to answer any questions you may have on the venue or the wines.

All in all, not one to be missed and this exciting instalment of your January wine calendar could well set you on the way to a perfect 2018.
